Style Sunday Special Events

On Sunday, August 8th, Buy Michigan Now is partnering with Styleline Magazine and Ta-Dah! Productions to shine a spotlight on Michigan’s growing fashion industry. Buy Michigan Now wants to make sure everyone has a chance to see some of the hottest designers to come out of the state without worrying about the cost of buying a ticket, so all fashion events, like the festival in general, are FREE general admission on a first come first served basis. In fact, you can even be a Style Sunday V.I.P. The first 100 guests to pick up complimentary tickets (limit one ticket per person) at the Buy Michigan Now information table located in Northville Square (133 W. Main Street – where Style Sunday will be held) from Noon-1PM will get the V.I.P. treatment!

V.I.P. ticketholders will get the chance to enjoy reserved seating right by the runway for all fashion events including the behind-the-scenes scoop on “Project Runway” from designer Joe Faris and an elegant fashion show featuring the genius of Katerina Bocci. V.I.P. guests will also receive a gift bag full of Michigan products and discounts valued at over $150. Michigan-based designers will also be on hand to display and sell their unique clothing, accessories, and jewelry. The schedule for this special Sunday Style event is:

Designer Katerina Bocci

Albanian-born Katerina Bocci is an award-winning designer who has acquired international acclaim among fashion elite and celebrities, including Aretha Franklin, Fergie and American Idol’s Jordin Sparks. Bocci came to America in 2001 and quickly became recognized for her one-of-a-kind creations, building a faithful clientele and a prospering business.

Since launching her successful couture eveningwear collection at the 2007 Fashion Week in New York, Katerina Bocci is expanding her profile with the launch of her premiere bridal gown collection. For this exclusive event she will be highlighting stunning suits, eveningwear, and her bridal collection.

Despite national and international acclaim for her work, Katerina remains dedicated to the growth of the fashion industry here in Michigan. Her studio is in Shelby Township.

Style Joe

Detroit-based designer Joe Faris was a top six finalist on Project Runway Season 5. He competed in 10 design challenges, including Bryant Park New York Fashion Week and the Project Runway Season 5 Final Fashion Show. The Parsons School of Design graduate has developed a new brand called Motor City Denim Co. and has spent 19 years as a designer in the fashion industry, holding senior design positions with top apparel companies including Donna Karen, Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Bugle Boy and Schott NYC. He also launched his own sportswear labels: Red Fly, Inkslingers USA and Double D Ranch. Joe is the co-creator of Fashion In Detroit, and will share some of his experiences from Project Runway, as well as some observations on the Detroit fashion scene and give us a sneak peak into what's coming from Motor City Denim Co.

Dearborn native Suzanne Sena has spent her fair share of time discussing style, having covered many a red carpet event, including the Oscars and Emmys, and asking that all important question, “Who are you wearing?” Suzanne earned an Emmy nomination herself as host of Celebrity Homes on the E! channel.

The M.S.U. grad has interviewed celebs, dignitaries, and people from all walks of life in her storied career which includes work for E!, Extra, CBS, and most recently Fox News Channel.
