The new Michigan will emerge with a much more diversified economy so Thursday is dedicated to promoting Michigan’s booming agricultural industry and helping entrepreneurs and professionals strengthen their skills across a wide variety of industries. 

8:00 AM – 3:00 PM  Northville Farmers' Market
Visitors will enjoy 100 stalls of Michigan-made products and Michigan-grown produce. A wide selection of plants and flowers are available, as well as fine juried crafters, garden art, soaps, jewelry, furniture, woodworking, and home accessories. (Northville Downs)
 
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM  Securing Business Financing in Today’s Market
Many changes have happened over the past six months that have affected the opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs to secure financing. Monroe Bank & Trust will discuss options available including information about SBA lending. (Northville Square-133 W. Main)
 
10:00 AM – Noon  Doing Business with the State
Buy Michigan First Coordinator, Rebecca Nevai will share opportunities for Michigan businesses to compete for State contracts.  She will review contracting opportunities, navigating the State’s contracting process, and free resources available. She will be joined by Jann Deane of the regional Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), who will give a brief presentation about the free services offered by PTAC, including bid proposal response assistance, and bid matching services for federal, state, county and city bids. (Northville Square-133 W. Many would-be entrepreneurs are exploring the possibility of owning a franchise through an established company, rather than starting on their own from scratch. Franchise Placement Specialist, Mark Cory, will guide that exploration with franchising basics, including the array of categories and investment levels available, how to go about defining a personal vision, matching that up with viable choices, and conducting proper due diligence to select the right fit.(Northville Square-133 W. 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM  Comedy for Kids Showcase
Laugh along with some of Michigan’s finest comedic talent for a good cause. Scheduled performers include: Connie Ettinger, Terri Stearn, Jeff Dwoskin, Bob Phillips, Mike Bobbitt, and the improv stylings of Go Comedy!  Must be 18 or older to attend.  Admission is free, though we recommend a minimum $5 donation to support Operation Kid Equip, a local nonprofit that provides school supplies to children in need in Southeastern Michigan. School supply donations will be excepted at various locations throughout town all week to benefit Operation Kid Equip.
