True horsepower returned to the Motor City last year with the opening of Pinnacle Race Course, and now their restaurant is getting an extra kick with the enhancement of Griller’s Select BBQ Sauce to the menu.
In addition to great racing, many people may not realize that the 240-acre site also includes a full-scale restaurant, sports bar, and pavilion that offers daily dining for lunch and dinner.
A few months back I had the pleasure of meeting with some of the team at Pinnacle. I noticed that the menu featured some items with BBQ sauce and offered to introduce them to a neighboring entrepreneur who makes a mean BBQ sauce called Griller’s Select.
Griller’s Select is fairly new to the commercial market, but was born out of a recipe served for years by Costa Cardasis at the Merriman Street Grill in nearby Romulus. Cardasis recently formed Anco Midwest Foods, LLC to start bottling and selling his popular flavor enhancers.
The meeting was set and the next thing you know, Griller’s Select is now being served at the track. According to the company’s Vice President of Marketing, Paula Mikola, “Pinnacle recognizes the importance of partnering and supporting local businesses, especially those launching new products made right here in Michigan and our own backyard. Griller's Select has been a wonderful addition as our signature BBQ Sauce.”
To help highlight the product there are banners, signs, and visible bottles on site. “We display it proudly and our customers continue to purchase it on a daily basis,” said Mikola.
Inspired by this success and the idea that we all need more exposure to the fine products being produced locally, Pinnacle Race Course is partnering with Buy Michigan Now on an event to help increase visibility of local products.
One of the most exciting days of the year at the track is coming up on Saturday, October 3rd, with the Michigan Sires Stakes. This live spectacle features the progeny of Michigan’s best stallions competing in the state’s richest racing day, and now extra Michigan flavor will be added. In cooperation with Buy Michigan Now, local vendors will be on site with tasty samples of their products. It’s a fun day for families, friends, and racing aficionados.
Pinnacle Race Course is open seven days a week and is located at 18000 Vining Road in New Boston. Admission and parking are FREE. On October 3rd, doors open at 11:30 AM for simulcast races. Michigan vendors will be on hand from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and post time for the first live race of the day is 2:00 PM.
Come join in the celebration. If you’re interested in being a vendor send an email today to
